Post-Acceptance Requirements

After acceptance, you will see several new requirements in your application view in the JCMU Application Portal. Please read the instructions for each requirement and submit them by the assigned deadline. If you need help, please contact us or schedule an advising appointment

General Requirements

Many of the post-decision requirements in the JCMU Application Portal have deadlines assigned. Completing these requirements in a timely manner helps us to better prepare (and helps you to better plan) for your time at JCMU.

NOTE: Failure to complete any post-decision requirement(s) by the deadline(s) indicated can result in your acceptance being rescinded and/or it being necessary to transfer your application to a future term.

Visa Materials

Not all students will need a visa. If you do need a visa for JCMU, you will notice several requirements related to the visa application process (available through the JCMU Application Portal). JCMU will help you with the visa process as long as you submit all of the visa requirements in a timely manner. Failure to correctly complete the requirements by the deadline(s) might result in your acceptance to the program being rescinded.

There are two main types of visas needed for JCMU. Which one you need depends on your length of stay and/or the country of issue of your passport:

U.S. passport in briefcase - INLVisa Waiver Countries

Some countries, such as the United States and Canada, have visa waiver arrangements with Japan. Travelers from visa waiver countries can enter and remain in Japan for up to the specified length time (typically 90 days) with just their valid passport. Citizens of these countries also have their visa fee waived if they need a longer term visa (like a Cultural Activities Visa).
