Admitted Students

Now that you're admitted, you are likely wondering what needs to done next to prepare for your time abroad. Review the outlined steps below and contact our office if you have any questions.


  • Review and complete the required post-acceptance questionnaires and signature documents that have been deployed to you through the JCMU application portal.
  • Complete any printed materials requested and submit them to the JCMU U.S. Office. Be sure to submit documents in hard copy when indicated.
  • Review the JCMU Student Handbook for information to help you prepare for traveling to and living in Japan.
  • Review all pre-departure orientation materials that are provided and (if applicable) attend the in-person pre-departure orientation for your program. JCMU holds pre-departure orientations for all of its programs at Michigan State University. The date(s) and time, along with an RSVP questionnaire, will be deployed to you through the JCMU application portal.
    • Although most attendees indicate that it is helpful, it is NOT mandatory for admitted students to attend the orientation in person. The materials shared at orientation will also be deployed electronically to all students.
