This information applies to faculty and staff appointed by the the Japan Center for Michigan Universities (JCMU).

Position Descriptions

A position description or "PD" is a statement of the major duties, responsibilities, and supervisory relationships of a position. In its simplest form, a PD indicates the work to be performed by the position. The purpose of a PD is to document the major duties and responsibilities of a position, not to spell out in detail every possible activity during the work day.

Professional Development

Continuing education and professional development benefits both individual JCMU employees and our organization as a whole: it strengthens our practice and enhances job satisfaction throughout our careers, as well as increasing awareness of JCMU by building a positive reputation for the Center and extending JCMU’s professional network. These types of engagement are vital to the maintenance and improvement of JCMU’s programming. Engagement in professional development activities can be costly, particularly when it entails international travel. However, JCMU views well-planned strategic engagement as an asset to the Center’s continued success. If you wish to travel for continuing education, to present a paper, or to fulfill a significant role in a professional meeting or congress during this contract period, please contact your supervisor to request a special allocation from the available pool of funds
